Limoncello Libre adds lemon liqueur to the familiar combination of rum, lime and cola. The result keeps its dark cola color while gaining a fragrant citrus note. Build it directly in the glass to preserve the bubbles and keep preparation simple.
1 cocktail · Prep: 5 minutes · Total: about 5 minutes
Ingredients
- 60 ml (2 fl oz) white rum
- 15 ml (½ fl oz) limoncello
- 15 ml (½ fl oz) freshly squeezed lime juice
- 120 ml (4 fl oz) chilled cola
- Ice cubes
- 1 lime wheel, for garnish
Instructions
- Fill a highball glass with ice cubes.
- Add the rum, limoncello and lime juice, then stir briefly.
- Pour in the chilled cola and stir gently once or twice, keeping as much carbonation as possible.
- Garnish with the lime wheel and serve immediately.
Balance the sweetness without losing the fizz
Choose chilled cola and fresh lime juice. Limoncello varies in sweetness, so taste before adding any extra sweetener. Do not shake the cola: add it last and stir gently. This is a modern variation on rum and cola rather than a claim to a historic cocktail recipe.
